
La Casita de Wendi are the design duo Inés Aguilar (33) and Iván Martinez (36) from Madrid Spain. Though neither of the two studied fashion – rather Inés studied architecture and Iván Philosophy – their designs are already being sold in Barneys NY and worn by such fashion icons as Bjork.
What got you into fashion?
We started to make clothes as a hobby and people liked them… so we started to sell them.
What was your biggest break through?
I guess when we started to sell in Barneys New York… We were in Paris and they came to our stand and told us they wanted to buy our collection. It was awesome, because it was our first time in an international trade show and it was a good start.
What song went through your head that day?
Shinny happy people!!
What are your favorite materials?
Natural fabrics with beautiful prints
Which city or place inspires you the most?
Nature is the most inspiring place.
Success in what country is most meaningful to?
In our own country or any other. It doesn’t matter.
Who are your favorite haut couture designers?
Christian Lacroix and Josep Font
Who’s your favorite independent fashion designer?
We love Bernhard Willhelm.

I guess Bjork, and she already wears our clothes!

Jeans, print jungle dress and black dress
What childhood garment made your heart brake when you grew out of it?
A princess-look red coat!
